The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for greed in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish film adaptation about the fallen religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who declares at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. He and Tammy Faye begin capitalizing on the American public's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, though Chastain succeeds to show the character in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, Film4
